To conduct a certified criminal record check, CCRTIS requires a full set of fingerprints. RCMP CCRTIS maintains the national repository of fingerprint and criminal record information. CCRTIS is the sole provider of criminal record verification for civil and criminal court purposes, as well as the security screening environment for all levels of government and the general public. CCRTIS clients submitting electronic fingerprints now receive responses within 72 hours (3 business days) for the majority of civil clearance fingerprint requests that do not link to a criminal file.

Frequently Asked Questions
In most cases, scanned fingerprints are widely accepted as being equivalent to (if not better than) the traditional fingerprints using ink impressions on a card. We are an authorized partner for the RCMP to use LiveScan for their criminal record check.
For other background checks, especially those in other countries for immigration / visa purposes, you may be asked to provide rolled (ink) fingerprints.

We require ID to make sure you are who you say you are. This comes in the form of two pieces of identification – at least one must be a photo ID (e.g. passport or driver’s license); while the other can be without photo, such as a birth certificate, citizenship card, permanent resident card, status card, etc.
Live scan fingerprinting is a form of digital fingerprinting that takes the impressions of fingertips on a glass plate of a live-scan device. The fingerprints are scanned through the glass and can then be transmitted accordingly.
The fingerprinting process itself is relatively short. Getting your fingerprints done can take anywhere from 10-20 minutes to complete. This goes for both ink-rolled fingerprints and live-scan fingerprinting.
There are a few different fingerprinting services available. Some of which include ink-based or ink-rolled fingerprinting, digital fingerprinting, mobile fingerprinting, and live scan fingerprinting. At Reliability Screening, we’re able to help all of our clients in Ottawa with any of these fingerprinting services depending on what’s needed for their particular situation.
